A.G. Golikov collection
Alexander G. Golikov (1865-1940) was prominent Moscow collector, well-known among the Russian specialists in art history, archaeology and numismatics. He wrote a number of articles dealing with publication of rare and previously unpublished coins from his collection as well as with the history of collecting in Moscow.
Numismatic collection of Alexander Golikov was bequeathed to the Pushkin museum in 1941. By that time it was the biggest donation made to the Museum ever. Collection enumerated 10 618 specimens, comprising Ancient (3019), West-European (3602), Russian (3272) and Oriental (c. 700) coins. The most coins were in excellent preservation and thoroughly systematized by types.
