Heads and Tails - Tales and Bodies cover  The Catalogue of the Exhibition “Heads and Tails – Tales and Bodies: Engraving the Human Figure from Antiquity to the Early Modern Period”.

  This large-scale edition in English language consists of three main parts. The first one – Plates – includes artistic blow-ups of some modst interesting exhibits and their details.

  Second part represents catalogue of 223 coins, medals, archaeological objects and pieces of art from the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow), Benaki Museum and Numismatic collection of KIKPE (Athens). All items are accompanied with essays containing some relevant stories and necessary technical details.

  All exhibits are divided into five conceptual chapters: “Anthropomorphism and Divinity”, “The Human Factor”, “Personifications and Metamorphoses”, “Human Figures and Artistic Challenges”, “The Anthropomorphic Tradition Disseminated”.

  The third part comprises articles by leading specialists from Greece, Great Britain and Russia referred to various aspects of the representation of human body in the various periods.
