Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń in Poland: "Freedom” International Medallic Project 2013

13.11.2012

Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń in Poland would like to invite your studio and your students to join our medal project, which aim is to propagate medal art and compare our ideas about the contemporary medal art. If you are interested in taking part in this project, enclosed you will find rules document for year 2013.

Freedom” is this year’s subject. The leading question is: what is ‘freedom’ for you? As an individual, group, society, nation, civilization. In what terms this definition currently appears and infiltrates the space of our life?

The 5th edition of international medal project called “Freedom”  is a continuation of previous international projects titled „Signs of the time” in 2012,“Home” in 2011, “Time” in 2010 and “Dialogue” in 2009. It was addressed to fine arts universities and colleges all over the world, where the contemporary medal art is being taught and who were interested in taking part in the project. The whole project shows the vast diversity in perceiving tendencies and development of contemporary medal art, from formal perspective and widely understood creation in usage of different materials.

Project is initiated by Professor Joanna Bebarska and Doctor Sebastian Mikołajczak from Medal and Small Sculpture Forms Studio at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń in Poland.
I want to thank all of you for taking part in our project and the whole your effort you have put in it. I hope it will result in further cooperation between the universities and in next projects.
Project coordinator Dr Sebastian Mikołajczak
