Das Antlitz des Fremden - neue Ausstellung im Münzkabinett der Stadt Winterthur

Wie kaum ein anderes Volk symbolisieren die Hunnen im kollektiven Gedächtnis der westlichen und der östlichen Welt die Bedrohung durch Wanderbewegungen nomadischer Völkerschaften aus dem asiatischen Steppenraum. Das Münzkabinett Winterthur eröffnet am 13. Mai eine neue Ausstellung, die dieses Bild in einen vielschichtigen kulturellen Kontext stellt und damit öffnet. Münzen sind dabei die wichtigsten Zeitzeugen.

The State Historical Museum represents the exhibition devoted to the jewelry of the Greeks and barbarians who were once living in the Black Sea littoral. Ca. 200 gold jewelry objects dating from the 6th century BC to the 5th century AD and more than 100 gold Greek and Roman coins from the collection of the Museum are on display.
