Round table dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Coins and Medals Department of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts
On May 17, the Museum of the International Numismatic Club hosted a round table dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the the Coins and Medals Department of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. The International Numismatic Club acted as a partner of the event.
Participants of the round table conference were Sergey Kovalenko, Keeper of the Coins and Medals Department of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Alexandra Mityaeva, Curator of the International Numismatic Club Museum, Vitaly Kalinin, Keeper of the Numismatic Department of the State Hermitage, Andrei Bogdanov, Chief of the Exhibition and Excursion Sector of the Goznak Exhibition Complex, Alexander Polishchuk, Keeper of the Numismatic Sector of the State Russian Museum, as well as representatives of regional art museums and other specialists.
International participants in the round table were François de Callatay, Secretary of the International Numismatic Commission (INC), member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Belgium, Chief Curator of the Royal Library, Bernhard Weisser, Treasurer of the International Numismatic Commission (INC), Director of the Berlin Münzkabinett, Yannis Stojas, Curator of the Numismatic Collection of the Charitable Society for the Promotion of Social and Cultural Programs (KIKPE, Greece) and Ulrike Peter, Director of the Projects "Corpus Nummorum/ Griechisches Muenzwerk" of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
The topics of the participants' reports dealt with a variety of eras, countries and collections: from the numismatic collection of the State Russian Museum to the Soviet coins in the collection of Goznak and the history of numismatic collections of the Royal Library of Belgium.
