Exhibition "Medals and Coins of the Epoch of Catherine II from the Collection of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts"

Joint exhibition project of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the Orenburg Museum of Fine Arts is dedicated to medals and coins of the epoch of Empress Catherine II. A part of the Pushkin Museum's numismatic collection is on display for the first time; one can see commemorative and award medals and crosses, tokens, coins and decorations of the orders. The exhibits tell about Russia in the late 18th century, as well as about the personality of the empress and her deeds.

The publication is dedicated to selected pieces from the exhibition in the Orenburg Regional Museum of Fine Arts, 26/05 - 15/08 2021. Exhibition “Medals and coins of the epoch of Catherine II from the collection of the Pushkin museum” is the second joint project carried out by the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the Orenburg Regional Museum of Fine Arts. In the exposition, one can see 170 pieces of numismatics from the collection of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow. The publication deals with selected pieces.

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the Khabarovsk Regional Museum named after N.I. Grodekov presents the exhibition “Signs of primary milestones. Masterpieces from the collection of the Coins and Medals Department of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts”. The first joint exhibition project deals with the history of the conquest and exploration of the Far East, its colonization and development, as well as the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway (Great Siberian Route). After Khabarovsk, the exhibition will visit Blagoveshchensk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur. On the exhibition, 77 exhibits is on display, most of which are presented for the public for the first time.

The publication is dedicated to selected pieces from the exhibition “Signs of primary milestones. Masterpieces from the collection of the Coins and Medals Department of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts”, which will visit the Khabarovsk Regional Museum named after N.I. Grodekov, Amur Regional Museum of Local Lore named after G.S. Novikov-Daursky in Blagoveshchensk and the Museum of Fine Arts of Komsomolsk-on-Amur in 2021. The numismatic pieces on display from the collection of the Pushkin Museum in Moscow relate to the history of the colonization and exploration of the Far East, with its settlement and development, as well as to the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway (the Great Siberian Route).

On May 17, the Museum of the International Numismatic Club hosted a round table dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the the Coins and Medals Department of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. The International Numismatic Club acted as a partner of the event.
