Statute

Golden Medal "Hammer and Sickle" is the highest decoration for those awarded the title of Hero of the Socialist Labour. A title and a medal are presented for the performing an outstanding labour feats and input for the rising of national industry, agriculture and culture; power and glory of the USSR.

Comments

Hero of the Socialist Labour was awarded with the Order of Lenin, Golden Medal of Hammer and Sickle and diploma from the Presidium of  the Supreme Council.

History

The title "Hero of Socialist Labour"  for the first time was received by J. Stalin in his fiftieth birthday. All in all, circa 18.000 people became Heroes of Socialist Labour, 160 persons were awarded this decoration twice and 16 persons - three times. 

Description

Five-pointed golden star with crossed hammer and sickle in centre. Inscription on the reverse: "Hero of Socialist Labour".
